Change root directory indicated during startup
11/19/09 7:38 PM

Hi-

We have SE 6 AS installed and configured and I can get to the admin ui, etc without a problem.

However when I try to access java webpages I get a 404 and in the ServletExec.log is see the following error:

The JSP page does not exist (filename = D:\InetPub\wwwroot\directory\page.jsp)

This is true, as the wwwroot location does not exist in this location.

During startup of SE the servletexec.log indicates the following:

[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] ServletExec 6.0 was initialized with the following settings:
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] port = 8888
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] backlog = 50
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] name = hostname
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] home = D:\New Atlanta\ServletExec AS\se-hostname\
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] log = D:\New Atlanta\ServletExec AS\se-hostname\
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] mimetypes = null
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] root = D:\InetPub\wwwroot\
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] allow = 127.0.0.1, [0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0001]
[Thu Nov 19 16:50:30 MST 2009] adapter = native

Is is possible to edit a configuration file so that the root = D:\domain1\ which is the actual location of the wwwroot?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

This is done in StartServletExec.bat.

Here is how:

Make a backup copy of that file, and then edit it to change the value of the -root parameter.

If your IIS website makes use of Virtual Directories and you wish SE to know about those too then you'll also need to add 1 -addl argument for each VD.

See table #4 in section 3.7.1.2 of the SE 6.0 Installation Guide:
http://www.newatlanta.com/support/servletexec/docs/index.jsp

Another option would be to simply apply the latest SE 6.0 hotfix (both native and JAR components):
http://www.newatlanta.com/c/products/servletexec/download/hotfix/showHotfixes

It contains an enhancement that completely sidesteps the need for -root and -addl.
It is the GET_REAL_PATH feature described here:
http://www.newatlanta.com/c/products/servletexec/download/hotfix/showHotfixDetail?hotfixId=156

(the bottom of those ReleaseNotes tell how to apply the various parts of the hotfix).

I hope that helps.

I added the -addl argument for the virtual directory and that fixed the issue. Thanks again for a speedy response that resulted in a fix!
