BlueDragon .NET 9.0 alpha - .NET 4.0 support
11/30/12 2:04 PM

The BlueDragon .NET 9.0 alpha is now available for download from New Atlanta's FTP server:

ftp://ftp.newatlanta.com/public/bluedragon/9_0/BlueDragon_NET_90_alpha.exe

The main enhancement in BD.NET 9.0 is support for the .NET 4.0 framework. This was accomplished by removing the dependency on VJ# from BD.NET by converting it from VJ# to C#.

A complete list of new features in the BlueDragon .NET 9.0 alpha can be found at:

ftp://ftp.newatlanta.com/public/bluedragon/9_0/WhatsNew.txt

Before installing the BlueDragon .NET 9.0 alpha, you should read the read me at:

ftp://ftp.newatlanta.com/public/bluedragon/9_0/ReadMe.txt

Please report any issues you find with the BlueDragon .NET 9.0 alpha to either the provided discussion forum on this web site or via email to support@newatlanta.com

As always, pre-release (alpha/beta) software is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only; do not use the BlueDragon .NET 9.0 alpha or any pre-release software in production environments.

Is there any more information about this? Is compatibility affected much (particularly cfcomponent code that uses the old java interfaces)? Performance?

We may be interested in upgrading to it once it is released, but was hoping for a little more information before diving into testing it. Is there a blog or something with more info?

We have added a migrating from BD.NET 7 file that can be downloaded from:

ftp://ftp.newatlanta.com/public/bluedragon/9_0/MigratingFromBD_NET_7.txt

One item missing from this document is if you have cfobject code that creates J# classes (ie. java classes) then you'll need to convert that code to C#. Basically anything your application uses that refers to J#/java classes will need to be converted to use C# instead.

We have noticed better performance with BD.NET now that it is completely written in C# but haven't done any performance testing to come up with exact numbers.

Hi Paul,

Could you please confirm if BlueDragon 9.0 compatible with .Net Framework 4.5?
Documentation of BD 9.0 only comments about its compatibility with .Net Framework 4.0.

Thanks
